You might be wondering what I’m up to
you know I’m riding my bike, but like, what’s the plan???
First of all, thank you for coming to my blog! I am imagining getting you a bubbly water and a snack as if you were coming to my home :)
In case you have not yet gathered, I am on a bike tour! Today was my first day riding after a day and a half of resting up and getting ready to go in Vancouver. Thinking I’ll write about that in another post though. This is just an overview, filling you in on ~the plan~. So here it is: dog willing, I am going to ride my bike for 1219.8 miles from Vancouver, BC to San Francisco over the course of about a month, prolly a little more cuz I want to enjoy some non biking things along the way. I’m carrying all my gear and I’ll mostly be camping, otherwise staying with friends or friends of friends or kind hosts from warmshowers (app that’s like couch surfing for bike touring). I’ll be following the Adventure Cycling Association pacific coast route1 with a couple detours for noteworthy attractions like cities and islands and pals.
(^ first of 3 segments of the route)
You might be thinking hahaha why would you do that?? Quickest answer is that being on a bike might be my favorite way to experience the world. It’s such a good pace! Slow enough to soak it all in, fast enough to cover a lot of ground. Also I kinda remembered this year that I’m sporty sometimes and like physical challenges. Also the ocean. And I dunno, I’m just doin good this year and have adventure energy in a way I haven’t in a long time and had the space and ability in my life to make it happen so I figured I better go for it!
That’s the quick and dirty! Ask me questions if you got ‘em! Regarding this newsletter blog thingy. I’m figuring out as I go along what I want it to be. Main goal is to use it as a creative outlet/medium for documenting and expressing the different aspects of the journey. If you subscribe it’ll come to your email, or you can skip that and check back when you’re curious.
Xoxo
